“You’re always one decision away from a totally different life.” Anonymous
They are called discovery sessions because that is what they are there to do - to help you truly discover who you are, not who you have been told to be, or indeed expected to be.
Discovery sessions are a psychologically safe place to explore your ideas and dreams, share your fears and challenges, understand your constraints and boundaries, unleash your creativity and access an objective view to help make sense of what your future could look like should you choose to go there.
But perhaps most importantly, it's about helping you to find yourself - to create simplicity in an increasingly complex world, to trust your instincts, to accept discomfort and uncertainty and transform it into opportunity and adventure.
Each discovery session lasts for approx. 1.5 hours and there is no charge for the first one - we both need to get to know each other a little, ensure that these sessions are really what you need and that the process suits you - one size certainly does not fit all and it's critical that you feel safe doing this work with me. We are on this voyage of discovery together, trust, honesty and kindness will be our guiding lights.

After our initial session, if you decide to go ahead, we will arrange them at a mutually convenient time. There is not a minimum number you need to commit to, you can stop at any time. Only you can decide if these sessions are really adding value for you and if they are not, I want you to be free to stop, without any obligation or worry that you cannot. The sessions are £70 each.
There is no set answer here. It is a highly individual process and we will work this out as we explore your world. My initial advice is no more than one every two weeks - you will need some time to reflect on, process and action the output from each session.
The session is structured but flexible, I know it sounds like a dichotomy, but it is a realistic approach to life - we crave structure and indeed need it, but we also need flexibility and the ability to respond to change, as we are presented with new opportunities and challenges. Think of the sessions as a way to organise the chaos of life.
The discovery session will start by exploring all of your world - your hopes, dreams, passions, fears, constraints, needs and frustrations. Once we have a handle on this landscape, together we will delve much deeper in to each of them, until we get to their root causes - the absolute truths.
These absolute truths then become the foundations upon which we can begin to build.
During the sessions, you will be questioned and challenged, to move your thinking on, to spark new thoughts and to reveal new perspectives. Sometimes those questions will be difficult, sometimes not. Either way, you will be guided to move forward - to change what you can, accept what you cannot and define how you want your reality and your success to look.
The output of each of our sessions will be captured visually in a series a diagrams - think of it as having an oil painting done and each discovery session as a 'sitting' until eventually your picture begins to emerge and you are able to recognise the real you, the one that's been aching for something more, but just not been able to quite grasp, or articulate it.
And over time, that painting will turn into a map, to guide you on your journey - to test new ideas against, to use as a compass when you get lost, to keep you going when you question yourself and your 'why' and to add and change as you discover new opportunities along the way.
Just drop me a line and we will arrange to chat, that's it. I'm very much looking forward to connecting and helping you manage the hell out of life.
There is no wrong or right answer, only your answer.
The point of these questions is to help you to really get to know yourself, to discover the parts of you that are hidden so deep they do not enter your consciousness, except when triggered and then they rise up in anger, fear, resentment and hurt - often feelings that leave us bewildered as to why they appear when they do.
Please take your time, write down the question and the answer, come back to it again and again, edit it, keep drilling down through the layers until eventually you will arrive at your indisputable truths - the root causes and from there the solutions will be clear.
And please do remember these 8 golden rules:
1. always use what you have, right here, right now
2. the hardest part is simply starting, so just take action
3. done is so much better than perfect
4. don't worry about the destination, just take the next best step on your journey and enjoy the process
5. you are so much better than you realise
6. no one has their sh*t together, everyone is messy and that's ok
7. it's really not the judgement of others that matters, it's the judgement from yourself, please be kind to you
8. fear reduces you, love expands you
Please be honest with yourself when considering these questions which includes being able to say 'I don't know' - not knowing is fine because you then know, what you do not know, which is progress! Just sit with the tricky questions, the ones that bring discomfort and resistance, meditate on them, walk with them, talk with them and reach out for help with them.
Rome was not built in a day, be patient, be kind and be brave.
"Working with Nik has been a breath of fresh air! Her open, friendly and oh so honest approach put me at ease straight away (which really isn’t easy as I have severe anxiety!)
Nik has zoned in on my dreams and helped me to bring them to life with clarity, support and her fantastic wealth of experience.
Discovery sessions with Nik have helped me believe in myself and my dreams and have given me the courage to go for it!
With love, laughter and wisdom Nik will change your life." Hannah Sturland, Founder Creating My Joy
I’ve only known of and actually had contact with Nik for a relatively short period (and I am so grateful for to The Career Mum Facebook group for putting us in contact) but in that time I feel like I have a real sense of who Nik is, what she is trying to achieve and how she can help others both personally and on an organisational basis.
This level of familiarity / comfortableness comes from her incredibly open and authentic ‘show up and own up’ philosophy that runs through everything she takes on both personally and professionally.
I have had a couple of discovery calls with Nik and on each occasion I have had ‘lightbulb’ moments that have clarified my thinking and which I have been able to put into practice immediately in establishing my new business.
Nik is very open, she is also very experienced at both a corporate level of business and having run her own businesses so she has a wealth of insight and knowledge to draw on. Her breadth of knowledge and experience means that she can listen to me talk about my own business and pull out key issues, put into words and diagrams what I am trying to achieve and help me move forward – at my own pace and in a way that is right for me and my business.
I cannot recommend Nik highly enough, she is a force of nature and a lovely, giving person with an incredible amount to offer. Joanne Fester, Founder of ABC Local Business Services
