“You’re always one decision away from a totally different life.” Anonymous
Helping individuals discover their purpose, to do what makes their 'heart sing' and to help turn those dreams into action, by translating their vision into an operational reality.
Discovery sessions are one-to-one discussions for people who need a sounding board, a psychologically safe place to explore ideas, share their fears, understand their constraints, find inspiration and access an objective view to help them make sense of what the future might look like. But perhaps most importantly, it's about helping people to find themselves - to find simplicity in an increasingly complex world, to trust your instincts, to accept discomfort and uncertainty and transform it into opportunity and adventure!
Discovery sessions last for approx. 1.5 hours and the first one is free - we need to get to know each other a little and it's really important that the process suits you. There is no 'one size fits all', we are on a voyage of discovery.
If you decide to go ahead with the sessions, we will arrange them at a mutually convenient time. The sessions cost £70 each, payable via Paypal - I will simply invoice you once we have agreed the date.
There is no set answer here. It is a highly individual process and we will work this out as we explore your aspirations and challenges. My initial advice is no more than every 2 weeks - you need some time to process and action the output from each session!
The session is structured but flexible - sounds like a dichotomy right? It's not, it is a realistic approach to life - we crave structure and indeed need it, but we also need flexibility and the ability to change, as we are presented with unforeseen opportunities and challenges. Think of it, as a way to organise the chaos of life.
We will start off with a structure - to get us going, then go 'off piste' a little as we delve into certain aspects, then come back to a structure, to enable you to have a blueprint and compass to accompany you on your journey.
The discovery session starts with a good, old fashioned 'root cause analysis'. Another way of thinking about this, is that we are taking off all of the layers built up over time, of expectations, judgements, moulding and preconceptions, to reveal the real you.
Once there, we can start to explore, what I refer to, as the 3 building blocks of life:
1. Your core values - effectively your engine room;
2. Your passions and motivations, effectively the fuel that runs your engine room; and
3. Your purpose, of which there maybe more than one, effectively your destination.
We will explore your hopes, dreams, constraints, frustrations and opportunities. You will be questioned and challenged, in a positive way, to move your thinking on. Sometimes those questions will be difficult, sometimes not. Either way, you will be guided to move forward - to change what you can, accept what you cannot and define how you want your reality, you values and your success to look like.
The output of each session will be captured on a map showing how each of the 3 building blocks interact and how they will manifest themselves in your life, whether that be personally or professionally, but hopefully both. Think of it as having an oil painting done of you and each session as a 'sitting'.
Over time, we will build a blueprint, to guide you on your journey - to test new ideas against, to use as a compass when you get lost, to keep you going when you question yourself and your 'why' and to add and change as you discover new opportunities along the way.
Clarity on your destination, how you can get there, what you need to get there and your core values. A physical blueprint of the outcomes from all of our sessions, as your reference material and effectively, your map, plus a relationship, hopefully made for life or whenever you need to dip into it.
Just drop me a line and we will arrange to chat, that's it. I'm very much looking forward to connecting and helping you manage the hell out of life.
"I’ve only known of and actually had contact with Nik for a relatively short period (and I am so grateful for to The Career Mum Facebook group for putting us in contact), but in that time, I feel like I have a real sense of who Nik is, what she is trying to achieve and how she can help others, both personally and on an organisational basis. This level of familiarity / comfortableness comes from her incredibly open and authentic ‘show up and own up’ philosophy, that runs through everything she takes on, both personally and professionally.
I have had a couple of discovery calls with Nik and on each occasion I have had ‘lightbulb’ moments, that have clarified my thinking and which I have been able to put into practice, immediately in establishing my new business.
Nik is very open, she is also very experienced at both a corporate level of business and having run her own businesses, so she has a wealth of insight and knowledge to draw on. Her breadth of knowledge and experience means that she can listen to me talk about my own business and pull out key issues, put into words and diagrams what I am trying to achieve and help me move forward – at my own pace and in a way that is right for me and my business.
I cannot recommend Nik highly enough, she is a force of nature and a lovely, giving person with an incredible amount to offer." Joanne Fester, Founder, ABC Local Business Services
